The 'juggernaut' required just two maps to beat FaZe in the upper bracket final with a great all-round performance.
Complexity became on Saturday the first team to secure a spot in the grand final of the BLAST Premier Spring Europe Finals after dispatching FaZe by a 2-0 scoreline. With confidence running high after a convincing victory over Natus Vincere, Benjamin "blameF" Bremer's side put in another strong all-round performance led by youngster Owen "oBo" Schlatter against an uninspired FaZe side that spent the majority of the series on the back foot despite winning three pistol rounds, two of which without a second-round conversion.
Nikola "NiKo" Kovač's charges hopped out to a 3-0 lead on the CT side after a bright start to the game, but the tone of the game changed once Complexity had money in the bank. Two gun rounds were all that FaZe could get — one of them thanks to a 1v2 clutch by Helvijs "broky" Saukants — as blameF's troops dictated the tempo and won the majority of the opening duels to head into the break with a three-round cushion.
Now playing on the T side, FaZe picked up a much-needed pistol round with a lightning-fast A execute, but there was no follow-up as Complexity responded immediately with Desert Eagles and continued to add to their lead. Håvard "rain" Nygaard, with three frags in a 3v3 scenario, and NiKo, who doubled his tally with nine kills over two rounds, still sprung FaZe back to life, but a comeback was not on the cards: Complexity tightened up and kept the Terrorists at bay, stringing four rounds together to put the game to bed.
Dust2 began with FaZe winning yet another pistol round, but things immediately fell apart for them. Complexity responded in the following round on a force-buy, the start of a dream run that saw them win nine consecutive rounds, one of which thanks to a spectacular 1v2 clutch by Valentin "poizon" Vasilev. Things were starting to look desperate for FaZe as the first half reached its final stages, but they shut out the Terrorists in the remaining rounds with a water-tight defense, with Marcelo "coldzera" David leading the comeback efforts for his side with key frags in mid.
After switching to the CT side, Complexity finally got a pistol round on the board, which they followed up with an anti-eco to increase their lead to 11-6. After buying up, FaZe put some rounds together, but their respite wouldn't last as their opponents held tight, eventually hitting map point off the back of a stunning quad-kill by oBo towards the B tunnels. FaZe dug deep in search of an equaliser and took the game the full distance, only to fall at the final hurdle after a mishap while attempting to push long, where William "RUSH" Wierzba picked up two easy frags to set Complexity up for success.
